The hidden truth
Women on Boards UK’s new research gives a comprehensive picture of the state of diversity and inclusion across the entire FTSE All-Share.
The Hidden Truth: Diversity & Inclusion in the FTSE All-Share examines every FTSE All-Share company below the 350 (FTSE All-Share ex350) and brings together the Gender Pay Gap data across those FTSE All-Share companies.
The report reveals a stark divide between those who are making progress and those who are not. WOB UK found that in the 261 FTSE All-Share firms below the FTSE 350:
under 50% have met the target for 33% women on boards;
more than 50% have an all-male executive leadership team;
just 16% have any ethnic diversity on their boards;
and 37% have one or no female board members.
The progress on diversifying non-executives, imperfect as it is, has been more successful than in building diverse executive leadership teams.
Over half of the FTSE All-Share ex350 do not have a single woman in their senior executive leadership team.

The report also highlights some examples of best practice - Ted Baker are introducing a ‘career levelling framework’ to ensuring equity in approach to pay and rewards, as well as supporting women with coaching and mentoring in their longer-term career progression.
